Report Validation Engine

The Report Validation Engine 3.0 (RVE 3.0) is designed to validate reporting values in COREP (including the Large Exposures, Leverage Ratio, LCR, NSFR and AMM reports), FINREP, Asset Encumbrance (AE) and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) reports. It follows the EBA Data Point Model (DPM) and XBRL taxonomies as defined in the Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on Supervisory Reporting. RVE 3.0 enables banks to execute a large number of validation rules efficiently, in a clear and structured manner. It supports effective control processes by identifying errors and inconsistencies in regulatory reports with precision and transparency.

The RVE 3.0 validation process incorporates all COREP, FINREP, AE and IRRBB validation rules prescribed by the EBA as part of the DPM and XBRL taxonomy, as well as additional checks issued by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Expert Group on Data Quality (EGDQ). All validation rules are available in a standardised format and can be supplemented with custom or bank-specific rules where required. RVE 3.0 is compatible with all EBA DPM-compliant XBRL files, making it suitable for use by all regulated banks across the EU. As the tool is fully self-contained, Regulatory Reporting teams can operate it independently without integration into bank-specific systems or environments.

RVE 3.0 presents output in a user-oriented and transparent format. After validation, several complementary results are provided. A summary gives an overview of key statistics, including the status of imported XBRL file(s) and the number of accepted and violated validation rules. A detailed list of all executed validation rules, including evaluation results, is provided in a dedicated output sheet. Reporting values extracted from the XBRL file(s) are displayed in the corresponding COREP, FINREP, AE and IRRBB report views, colour-coded to reflect their validation status. In addition, users can retrieve detailed validation information for individual report cells through a shortcut-activated user interface, linking rule outcomes directly to the underlying reported values. This allows users to efficiently trace and understand the source of validation issues.
